Himne singkat namun sangat simbolik ini menelusuri gerak “sapi” bercahaya dengan sinar beraneka warna—sering ditafsirkan sebagai Fajar atau penerangan Sang Surya—yang melangkah di hadapan Sang Ibu (Bumi) lalu menuju Sang Bapa (Langit). Kemudian digambarkan Daya kosmis yang “mengembus keluar dan menarik masuk napas”, menyingkapkan langit melalui gerak berirama, dan berpuncak pada visi “burung surya” (pataṅga) tempat Vāk (Sabda/Kata) ditetapkan, bersinar melintasi banyak ranah pada setiap fajar dan setiap hari.

Mantra 1
आयं गौः पृश्निरक्रमीदसदन्मातरं पुरः । पितरं च प्रयन्त्स्वः ॥
Sapi bercahaya, beraneka sinar ini telah melangkah maju, duduk di hadapan Sang Ibu; dan ia melaju menuju Sang Bapa, ke arah dunia yang bercahaya (svaḥ).
Mantra 2
अन्तश्चरति रोचनास्य प्राणादपानती । व्यख्यन्महिषो दिवम् ॥
Bergerak di dalam ranah cahayanya, menghembus dan menarik napas, Sang Perkasa yang agung menyingkapkan langit bagi penglihatan.
Mantra 3
त्रिंशद्धाम वि राजति वाक्पतंगाय धीयते । प्रति वस्तोरह द्युभिः ॥
Dalam tiga puluh ranah ia memancar; Vāk (Sabda) ditetapkan pada lintasan sang burung bersayap—menyambut tiap fajar dan siang dengan cahaya-cahayanya.

In Vedic poetry, the cow often symbolizes nourishing abundance and rays of light. Here the “variegated cow” is a vivid image for dawn or solar illumination that ‘gives’ vision and life.
