Soma Pavamāna
This short Pavamāna hymn praises Soma as he is purified in the pressing and filtering, striding beyond all hostile forces and being “adorned” by inspired thoughts. The poet asks the bright Indu to bring dyumna (luminous powers of success), thousandfold nourishing impulses (iṣaḥ), and a “double-supporting” abundance that sustains both worldly welfare and inner uplift.
Mantra 1
Mantra 2
Mantra 3
Mantra 4
Mantra 5
Mantra 6
It praises Soma as he purifies through the filter and asks him to bring radiant success (dyumna), nourishing increase (iṣ), and sustaining abundance (rayi), along with strength for inspired speech.
“Pavamāna” means “purifying” or “self-purifying,” referring to Soma juice flowing through the pavitra (filter) in the Soma sacrifice and becoming bright and fit for offering.
It is a request for abundance with “double support”—often understood as prosperity that upholds both outer life (strength, resources) and inner life (steadiness, uplift and right speech).
