Sukta 9.40
पुनान इन्दवा भर सोम द्विबर्हसं रयिम् । वृषन्निन्दो न उक्थ्यम् ॥
punāná indavā́ bhara sóma dvi-bárhasaṃ rayím | vṛ́ṣann indo na ukthyám ||
Recitation in Soma purification sequences; supports the uktha function—effective spoken invocation accompanying pressing and offering.
twofold support (integration of inner and outer being), vāc as efficacious utterance (uktha)
Twofold support reflects Ṛta’s demand for harmony between inner truth and outer life.
Ukthya speech is speech aligned with Satya—effective because it is true.
Sustaining abundance as a creative foundation: stability enables further manifestation of light and power.
Integral Vedic psychology: transformation must descend and support life, not remain only inward.
The ‘strong Soma’ is a vigorous, clarified delight that both uplifts and stabilizes—like a nourishing sap that supports growth in root and crown.
Establish a ‘twofold support’: feel delight stabilizing the lower nature while illuminating the mind; let speech become calm and true.
Mūlādhāra–Ājñā axis (grounding to illumined guidance)
Slow diaphragmatic breathing with a gentle pause; on inhale ‘support below,’ on exhale ‘support above’; then silent listening for ukthya word.
Strong steadiness; quiet power.
Chant 9 or 21 times; afterward, speak one truthful intention aloud slowly—training speech to be ‘ukthya’ (worthy).
Keep a firm lift on ā BHARA; emphasize dvi-barhasam with measured clarity; end with a confident fall on ukthyam. Exact svara per śākhā.
puNĀna inDAVA ā BHARA | SOMA dvi-barhaSÁM raYÍM | VṚṣann INDO naḥ ukTHYÁM.
