Sukta 5.21
Atri (Ātreya)
Agni
Gayatri (probable; short 3-pāda structure typical of many Agni invocations—verify in critical edition)
Is mantra mein Agni ko bulaya gaya hai insaan ke tareeke se. Aag ko chamakte hue bithao aur use Rta ke garbh mein sthapit karo. Rta woh satya hai jo duniya ko chalata hai aur badhawa deta hai. Agni hamari puja ko devtaon tak pahunchata hai.
Mantra 1
Hum Agni ko apne paas bula lete hain, insaan ki tarah. Phir use poora jalate hain, insaan ki tarah. Agni, Angiras, tu insaan ki tarah bhagwan ke liye havan kar. Jo bhagwan ko dhundh raha hai, uske liye.
Mantra 2
Agni, insaan ke paas tu khush ho ke jalta hai. Yeh chammach teri taraf aati hain, ek ke baad ek. Tu acha ghar mein paida hua hai. Ghee ki dhara tujhe mil rahi hai, aag ko khane ke liye.
Mantra 3
Saare bhagwan mil ke tumhe apna paigambar bana ke bheja. Tum rishi ho, aag roop mein. Yagya mein sab tumhari puja karte hain, bhagwan ki tarah.
Hey insaan, Agni bhagwan ki puja karo, bhagwan ko dhundhte hue. Aag, tu chamak raha hai, chamak ke udd. Baith ja satya ki jagah mein, ugne aur badhne ki jagah mein.
It teaches that when Agni is properly installed and kindled in the human rite, he becomes the active messenger who carries worship to the gods and brings ordered prosperity through ṛta.
It emphasizes correct human procedure and intention in kindling the fire—Agni is divine, but he is invoked through human ritual discipline and sincerity.
It means the secure seat of cosmic truth and order; asking Agni to sit there is a prayer that the ritual (and life) be grounded in rightness, leading to growth and increase.
