Devata

Devāḥ (the Gods collectively); underlying cosmogonic powers of manifestation

Chandas

Triṣṭubh (11-syllable pādas; typical for reflective/cosmogonic statements)

Is mantra mein devtaon ke janam aur duniya ke banne ka baat hai. Pehle kuch nahi tha, phir ek ke baad ek sab paida hua. Daksh aur Aditi ki kahani hai, jo thoda ulajhi hui hai. Aditi ke saat bete the, lekin ek beta wapas aaya. Yeh baat batata hai ki amar hona aur marne wala hona saath mein aata hai. Rishi log is sab ko apni buddhi se samajhte the.

Mantras

Mantra 1

Ab hum bhagwan ke baare mein batayenge ki woh kaise paida hue. Hum yeh baat chamakdar shabdon mein kahenge. Jo insaan aage ke samay mein dekh sakta hai, woh sach mein sab samajhta hai jab yeh mantra gaaye ja rahe hain.

Mantra 2

Brahmanaspati ne sabko milaya jaise lohaar loha garam karke jodta hai. Bhagwan ke pehle samay mein, hone wali cheez na hone wali cheez se paida hui. Yeh sahi tareeka bina sahi cheez se nikla.

Mantra 3

Pehle yug mein jab devi-devta the, us waqt kuch bhi nahi tha. Phir ekdum se honne wali cheez paida hui. Uske baad logon ki ichchhaen bhi paida hui. Aur duniya ke pair bhi ban gaye jisse yeh sab tik sake.

Mantra 4

Pehle dharti bani, uske saath duniya ke sthir base bhi ban gaye. Phir upar wali duniya bani aur charon dishaon ka janam hua. Aditi se Daksh paida hua, aur Daksh se phir Aditi bani. Yeh anant chakra chalta rehta hai.

Mantra 5

Aditi tumhari beti bani, hey Daksh. Uske baad devi-devta paida hue. Woh sab bhalai karte hain aur amrit ke saath jud gaye.

Jab devi-devta paani ke upar khade the, sab ek jagah the aur dhyan mein the. Tab aisa laga jaise koi naach raha ho. Aur andhera ka dhool saaf ho gaya. Woh sab hil gaya jab shakti jag gayi.

Mantra 7

Jab devi-devta ne duniya ko failaya, tab samundar mein se suraj ko bahar nikala. Woh suraj chupa hua tha andher mein. Tab unhone us roshni ko wapas pa liya jo gehraai mein chupa tha.

Mantra 8

Aditi ke aath bete the, sab uski god se paida hue.

Lekin phir usne Martanda ko wapas bula liya. Yeh janam ke liye tha aur maut ke liye bhi. Woh insaan wala hissa wapas aaya taaki usko poora kiya ja sake.

Frequently Asked Questions

It reflects on how the Gods come into manifestation and how cosmic order (ṛta) is established. It uses the figures of Aditi and Dakṣa to express creation as an unfolding of infinity and organizing power.

The hymn presents a paradox to show that creation is not a simple one-way sequence. Dakṣa stands for formative intelligence, Aditi for unbounded wholeness, and their mutual relation expresses how order and infinity depend on each other in manifestation.

Mārtāṇḍa represents the mortal element within creation. His return “toward birth and toward death” conveys that mortality and repeated embodiment are part of the cosmic process until transformation and full realization are achieved.
