Prithivi Sukta & Earth Worship
1 anuvakas (sections) to explore.
The centerpiece is the Prithvi (Earth) Sukta, 12.1, a long hymn that sacralizes Earth as the basis of purity, settlement, protection, and dharma.
Kanda 12 treats prosperity as grounded in rightly ordered life on Earth; cows and fields are key symbols and instruments of nourishment, wealth, and communal stability, so hymns bless and protect them.
It is predominantly paustika (prosperity and increase), supported by shantika (pacificatory and protective) elements, with minimal focus on healing (bhaisajya) or aggressive rites (abhicarika).
