Mantra 1

प्र ण इन्दो महे तन ऊर्मिं न बिभ्रदर्षसि । अभि देवाँ अयास्यः ॥

Flow forth for us, O Indu, for the vast extension (of our being), bearing a wave as it were; press forward toward the Gods as their eager inviter—so the divine powers may enter and work within us.

Mantra 2

मती जुष्टो धिया हितः सोमो हिन्वे परावति । विप्रस्य धारया कविः ॥

Soma, the seer-force, cherished by our forms of thought and placed by the illumined intelligence, is urged onward in the far-extended field; by the streaming current he increases the inspired one’s flow of vision.

Mantra 3

अयं देवेषु जागृविः सुत एति पवित्र आ । सोमो याति विचर्षणिः ॥

This Soma, wakeful among the gods, pressed out, comes to the filter; he moves on as the wide-ruling power, ordering the many activities of our nature toward the light.

Mantra 4

स नः पवस्व वाजयुश्चक्राणश्चारुमध्वरम् । बर्हिष्माँ आ विवासति ॥

May he purify himself for us, bringing plenitudes of force; fashioning the beautiful inner sacrifice, he makes the seat of offering ready and welcomes the powers of light to abide in it.

स नो भगाय वायवे विप्रवीरः सदावृधः । सोमो देवेष्वा यमत् ॥

May Soma, ever-growing and rich in inspired energies, come for us toward Bhaga and Vāyu; may he yoke himself into the divine powers, so that fortune and the life-breath of the gods may move in our being.

स नो अद्य वसुत्तये क्रतुविद्गातुवित्तमः । वाजं जेषि श्रवो बृहत् ॥

May he today purify and act for our true riches: the knower of will and the best finder of the path; may he win for us the plenitude of force and the vast, luminous fame—an increase of being in the wideness.
