Sukta 24

Mantra 1

प्र सोमासो अधन्विषुः पवमानास इन्दवः । श्रीणाना अप्सु मृञ्जत ॥

Forth the Soma-drops have sped, the purifying Indus: filling themselves, they cleanse themselves in the waters—making the streams of consciousness fit for the rite of Truth.

Mantra 2

अभि गावो अधन्विषुरापो न प्रवता यतीः । पुनाना इन्द्रमाशत ॥

The Rays (Cows) have surged towards him, like waters running down the slope; purifying themselves, they reach Indra—arriving at the mind’s lord with clarified energies.

Mantra 4

त्वं सोम नृमादनः पवस्व चर्षणीसहे । सस्निर्यो अनुमाद्यः ॥

Thou, O Soma, art the gladdener of the human being: purify thyself, conqueror for the peoples. Thou art the winner who follows after the ecstasy—bringing the soul into a greater gladness.

Mantra 5

इन्दो यदद्रिभिः सुतः पवित्रं परिधावसि । अरमिन्द्रस्य धाम्ने ॥

O Indu, when pressed by the stones, thou runnest around the filter; thou becomest fit and ready for Indra’s dwelling—prepared to establish his power in us.

Mantra 7

शुचिः पावक उच्यते सोमः सुतस्य मध्वः । देवावीरघशंसहा ॥

Pure and flaming-clear is Soma called, of the pressed sweetness; a hero for the gods, slayer of the ill-speaking darkness—he guards the divine life in us.
