Sukta 29

Mantra 1

आ नः स्तुत उप वाजेभिरूती इन्द्र याहि हरिभिर्मन्दसानः । तिरश्चिदर्यः सवना पुरूण्याङ्गूषेभिर्गृणानः सत्यराधाः ॥

Come to us, O Indra, praised—come near with your help that brings plenitudes of force; arrive rejoicing with your tawny powers. Even from afar, O noble one, come to the many pressings, being sung by our inspired words, you whose accomplishment is faithful to the Truth.

Mantra 2

आ हि ष्मा याति नर्यश्चिकित्वान्हूयमानः सोतृभिरुप यज्ञम् । स्वश्वो यो अभीरुर्मन्यमानः सुष्वाणेभिर्मदति सं ह वीरैः ॥

For indeed he comes—the man-power, the knower—called by the pressers, to the sacrifice. He of good steeds, fearless in his self-regard, becomes intoxicated with those who press well, joining together with the heroes (our strong energies).

Mantra 3

श्रावयेदस्य कर्णा वाजयध्यै जुष्टामनु प्र दिशं मन्दयध्यै । उद्वावृषाणो राधसे तुविष्मान्करन्न इन्द्रः सुतीर्थाभयं च ॥

Make his ears hear, so that he may bring the plenitudes of force; send forth the beloved call in every direction to make him rejoice. Rising in his overflowing might for our fulfilment, may Indra the mighty establish for us a good crossing and fearlessness.

Mantra 4

अच्छा यो गन्ता नाधमानमूती इत्था विप्रं हवमानं गृणन्तम् । उप त्मनि दधानो धुर्याशून्त्सहस्राणि शतानि वज्रबाहुः ॥

He who comes straight to the one in need with his help—thus to the inspired seer who calls and praises—he, the wielder of the thunder-force, places upon himself the yoke-team of swift powers, by thousands and hundreds, to carry us forward.

Mantra 5

त्वोतासो मघवन्निन्द्र विप्रा वयं ते स्याम सूरयो गृणन्तः । भेजानासो बृहद्दिवस्य राय आकाय्यस्य दावने पुरुक्षोः ॥

O Maghavan Indra, protected by you, may we be inspired seers—luminous in our understanding—ever praising you. Sharing in the riches of the vast heaven, may we be fit to receive the generous giving of your abundant plenty.
