Mantra 1

प्र वो महे मन्दमानायान्धसोऽर्चा विश्वानराय विश्वाभुवे । इन्द्रस्य यस्य सुमखं सहो महि श्रवो नृम्णं च रोदसी सपर्यतः ॥

Forth to you I chant for the great one, gladdened with the pressed delight—Viśvānara, the universal becoming. Indra’s power, whose happy rapture is mighty, whose hearing-fame and heroic force the two worlds serve and cherish.

Mantra 2

सो चिन्नु सख्या नर्य इनः स्तुतश्चर्कृत्य इन्द्रो मावते नरे । विश्वासु धूर्षु वाजकृत्येषु सत्पते वृत्रे वाप्स्वभि शूर मन्दसे ॥

He indeed, the friend of man, the strong one, when praised, takes joy for the generous human. In all the onsets, in all acts that fashion plenitude of force, O lord of the true, whether against the Coverer or in the waters, O hero, you become glad—ready for victory.

Mantra 3

के ते नर इन्द्र ये त इषे ये ते सुम्नं सधन्यमियक्षान् । के ते वाजायासुर्याय हिन्विरे के अप्सु स्वासूर्वरासु पौंस्ये ॥

Who are your men, O Indra, who seek your nourishment and who have sacrificed for your gracious favour that brings the true riches? Who drive you on toward vāja, toward the lordly light-force? Who, in the waters and in the good fertile fields, call forth your manhood-power?

Mantra 4

भुवस्त्वमिन्द्र ब्रह्मणा महान्भुवो विश्वेषु सवनेषु यज्ञियः । भुवो नॄँश्च्यौत्नो विश्वस्मिन्भरे ज्येष्ठश्च मन्त्रो विश्वचर्षणे ॥

You are, O Indra, great by the Word; you are worthy of the offering in all the pressings. You are the impelling power among men in every bearing of the load; you are the eldest mantra for all the peoples—leader of the universal march.

Mantra 5

अवा नु कं ज्यायान्यज्ञवनसो महीं त ओमात्रां कृष्टयो विदुः । असो नु कमजरो वर्धाश्च विश्वेदेता सवना तूतुमा कृषे ॥

Now indeed the peoples who are rich in sacrifice know your vast measures and your greater powers. Yes, you are the unaging growth and increase; by these you drive forward all the pressings of Soma for our works—impelling the soul’s endeavour toward plenitude.

Mantra 6

एता विश्वा सवना तूतुमा कृषे स्वयं सूनो सहसो यानि दधिषे । वराय ते पात्रं धर्मणे तना यज्ञो मन्त्रो ब्रह्मोद्यतं वचः ॥

These indeed—all the Soma-pressings—you yourself impel for the work, O Son of Force, placing in us what is needed. For your choosing there is the vessel; for the law of right working there are the sacrifice, the mantra, the uplifted word of the brahman—raised to carry the truth-force.

Mantra 7

ये ते विप्र ब्रह्मकृतः सुते सचा वसूनां च वसुनश्च दावने । प्र ते सुम्नस्य मनसा पथा भुवन्मदे सुतस्य सोम्यस्यान्धसः ॥

O sage-power, those who fashion the brahman for you, accompanying the pressed Soma, become a path by the mind for your grace—so that the giving of the riches and the rich powers may arrive in the ecstasy of the clarified Soma’s essence.
