Sukta 82

Mantra 1

उपो षु शृणुही गिरो मघवन्मातथा इव । यदा नः सूनृतावतः कर आदर्थयास इद्योजा न्विन्द्र ते हरी ॥

Hear now our words, O bounteous one, and do not be as if untrue to them. When the hand of us who hold the power of true speech seeks its aim, then indeed, O Indra, yoke thy two tawny steeds.

Mantra 2

अक्षन्नमीमदन्त ह्यव प्रिया अधूषत । अस्तोषत स्वभानवो विप्रा नविष्ठया मती योजा न्विन्द्र ते हरी ॥

They have eaten and have grown glad; the dear draughts have surged within. The radiant-seeing seers have praised with a most fresh thought—now, O Indra, yoke thy two tawny steeds.

Mantra 3

सुसंदृशं त्वा वयं मघवन्वन्दिषीमहि । प्र नूनं पूर्णवन्धुरः स्तुतो याहि वशाँ अनु योजा न्विन्द्र ते हरी ॥

We would praise thee, O bounteous one, as fair to behold. Now, with thy chariot fully yoked, praised, come following the will that draws thee—O Indra, yoke thy two tawny steeds.

Mantra 4

स घा तं वृषणं रथमधि तिष्ठाति गोविदम् । यः पात्रं हारियोजनं पूर्णमिन्द्र चिकेतति योजा न्विन्द्र ते हरी ॥

He mounts that bull-strong chariot, the finder of the rays (cows). He who takes note, O Indra, of the vessel yoked to the tawny steeds and filled full—now yoke, O Indra, thy two tawny steeds.

Mantra 5

युक्तस्ते अस्तु दक्षिण उत सव्यः शतक्रतो । तेन जायामुप प्रियां मन्दानो याह्यन्धसो योजा न्विन्द्र ते हरी ॥

Let thy right and thy left be yoked, O thou of a hundred powers. With them, exulting, come to the dear companion, to the Soma-essence—now, O Indra, yoke thy two tawny steeds.

Mantra 6

युनज्मि ते ब्रह्मणा केशिना हरी उप प्र याहि दधिषे गभस्त्योः । उत्त्वा सुतासो रभसा अमन्दिषुः पूषण्वान्वज्रिन्त्समु पत्न्यामदः ॥

With the sacred word I yoke for thee the two long-maned tawny steeds; come forth and draw near, take thy seat in the two hands. The pressed Soma-draughts, impetuous, have made thee exult; O wielder of the thunderbolt, accompanied by Pūṣan, be united in delight with the consort.
