Mantra 1
यक्ष्मनाशनम् वि देवा जरसावृतन् वि त्वमग्ने अरात्या । व्य१हं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण समायुषा
A destroyer of wasting-disease: the Gods have driven it off, the covering of decay; thou too, O Agni, drive it off—misfortune. From every evil taint, from wasting-disease, together with full life, may I be set free.
Mantra 2
व्यार्त्या पवमानो वि शक्रः पापकृत्यया । व्य१हं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण समायुषा
From affliction the Purifier, from evil sorcery the Mighty One, drive it away. From every evil taint, from wasting-disease, together with full life, may I be set free.
Mantra 3
वि ग्राम्याः पशव आरण्यैर्व्याऽपस्तृष्णयासरन्। व्य१हं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण समायुषा
Apart the village herds have sped with forest-creatures; the waters, urged by thirst, have run away. So may I be parted from all evil taint, parted from yákṣma, and joined with full length of life.
Mantra 4
वी३मे द्यावापृथिवी इतो वि पन्थानो दिशंदिशम्। व्य१हं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण समायुषा
Asunder from here are Heaven and Earth; asunder the pathways, each to its own quarter. So may I be parted from all evil taint, parted from yákṣma, and joined with full length of life.
Mantra 5
त्वष्टा दुहित्रे वहतुं युनक्तीतीदं विश्वं भुवनं वि याति । व्य१हं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण समायुषा
Tvaṣṭṛ yokes for his daughter the bridal train: thus this whole world of beings moves forth apart. So may I be parted from all evil taint, parted from yákṣma, and joined with full length of life.
Mantra 6
अग्निः प्राणान्त्सं दधाति चन्द्रः प्राणेन संहितः । व्य१हं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण समायुषा
Agni composes the breaths together; the Moon is knit with breath. So may I be parted from all evil taint, parted from yákṣma, and joined with full length of life.

प्राणेन विश्वतोवीर्यं देवाः सूर्यं समैरयन्। व्य१हं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण समायुषा
With prāṇa, with might on every side, the Gods have set the Sun in motion. So may I be parted from all evil taint, parted from yákṣma, and joined with full length of life.
Mantra 8
आयुष्मतामायुष्कृतां प्राणेन जीव मा मृथाः । व्य१हं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण समायुषा
With the breath of life, live thou—die not. I drive away, with all malignity, the wasting sickness, and (set thee) in possession of a full term of life, among the long-lived, among the life-establishers.
Mantra 9
प्राणेन प्राणतां प्राणेहैव भव मा मृथाः । व्य१हं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण समायुषा
With vital breath (I strengthen thee) among the breathing: O Breath, abide thou here indeed; die not. I drive away, with all malignity, the wasting sickness, and (set thee) with a full term of life.

उदायुषा समायुषोदोषधीनां रसेन । व्य१हं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण समायुषा
Up with thy life, with full life—up with the sap of herbs. I drive away, with all malignity, the wasting sickness, and (set thee) with a full term of life.
Mantra 11
आपर्जन्यस्य वृष्ट्योदस्थामामृता वयम्। व्य१हं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण समायुषा
By Parjanya’s rain we have risen up—made, as it were, deathless. I drive away, with all malignity, the wasting sickness, and (set us) with a full term of life.
Yakṣma is a wasting, lingering illness—often understood as a draining disease that disrupts strength and breath (prāṇa). The hymn treats it as an adversarial force to be driven away.
Agni represents purification and restored order: he burns away pathogenic impurity (pāpman) and ‘puts the breaths together,’ making him the fitting yakṣmanāśana (disease-destroyer).
It is recited beside a clean fire, often with simple offerings and water-sprinkling, while repeatedly affirming separation from yakṣma/pāpman and reconnection with full lifespan (samāyus).
