य॒दा शृ॒तं कृ॒णवो॑ जातवे॒दोऽथे॒ममे॑नं॒ परि॑ दत्तात् पि॒तृभ्यः॑ । य॒दो गच्छा॒त्यसु॑नीतिमे॒तामथ॑ दे॒वानां॑ वश॒नीर्भ॑वाति
yadā́ śrutáṃ kṛṇávo jātavedo 'thémám enaṃ pári dattāt pitṛ́bhyaḥ | yadó gácchāty ásunītim etā́m átha devā́nāṃ vaśanī́r bhavāti
When thou hast made him duly roasted, O Jātavedas, then hand him over, wholly, unto the Fathers. And when he goeth upon this leading-forth of breath, then cometh he under the governance of the Gods.
Wenn du ihn, o Jātavedas, ordnungsgemäß geröstet hast, dann übergib ihn ganz den Vätern (Pitṛs). Und wenn er auf diesen Weg geht, der den Atem fortführt, dann gerät er unter die Herrschaft der Götter.
