brūhi me tvaṃ purāvṛttaṃ pitṛṇāṃ tīrthasevanam | ciraṃ nānāvidhānkleśān prāptāsta iti me śrutam

Type: kshetra
Scene: A royal inquirer respectfully asks a sage about ancestral pilgrimage and the long hardships endured; the setting evokes a riverbank āśrama with manuscripts and ritual vessels.
Pilgrimage (tīrtha-sevana) may involve hardship, yet it is sought for purification, merit, and dharmic restoration.
The verse introduces tīrtha-sevana in general; specific sites are expected in the subsequent narration within the Revā Khaṇḍa.
The practice highlighted is tīrtha-sevana—undertaking pilgrimage and observances at sacred waters and places.
