जनमेजय उवाच । द्वैपायनप्रसादेन ज्ञानवानसि मे मतः । वैशंपायन तस्मात्त्वां पृच्छामि ऋषिसन्निधौ

Janamejaya nói: “Nhờ ân phúc của Dvaipāyana (Vyāsa), ta xem ngài là bậc có chân tri. Vì vậy, hỡi Vaiśaṃpāyana, ta xin hỏi ngài—ngay trước sự hiện diện của chư hiền ṛṣi.”
