मनु-शतरूपा-प्रसूतिः तथा दक्षकन्याविवाहाः

ऋतवः पितरस्तस्मादित्येषा वैदिकी श्रुतिः । युष्मादृतुषु सर्वे हि जायंते स्थास्नुजंगमा । तस्मादेते पितर आर्तवा इति च श्रुतम् । एवं पितॄणामेतेषामृतुकालाभिमानिनाम्
ṛtavaḥ pitarastasmādityeṣā vaidikī śrutiḥ | yuṣmādṛtuṣu sarve hi jāyaṃte sthāsnujaṃgamā | tasmādete pitara ārtavā iti ca śrutam | evaṃ pitṝṇāmeteṣāmṛtukālābhimāninām
Vì thế, thánh khải Veda tuyên rằng: “Các mùa chính là các Pitṛ.” Bởi từ các Ngài, trong hình tướng của những mùa, mọi loài—cả bất động lẫn hữu động—đều sinh ra. Do đó cũng nghe rằng các Pitṛ ấy được gọi là “Ārtava” (thuộc về mùa). Như vậy, các Pitṛ này được hiểu là những vị chủ trì thời gian và chu kỳ của các mùa.
