Suta Goswami (narrating the phalaśruti to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Elevates multiple modes of engagement—reciting, commissioning recitation, hearing, facilitating hearing—as equally meritorious; underscores communal transmission (saṅgha-bhakti) as a vehicle of grace.
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
Offering: dipa
It declares the phala (assured fruit) of Shiva-kathā: recitation, teaching, hearing, and facilitating hearing are themselves potent acts of bhakti that draw Shiva’s grace, fulfilling aims and culminating in inner purification that supports liberation.
By praising śravaṇa and pāṭha, it frames devotion as accessible worship of Saguna Shiva through sacred narrative—an offering of attention and reverence—complementing external Linga-pūjā with inward absorption in Shiva’s glory.
Regular śravaṇa (listening) and pāṭha (recitation) of Shiva Purana—especially in a satsanga setting—along with encouraging others to hear/recite, as a simple devotional discipline aligned with Shaiva practice.
