एकैकं सप्तधा च्छित्त्वा रुदमानं स देवराट् । एवं वै मरुतो जातास्ते तु देवा महौजसः
ekaikaṃ saptadhā cchittvā rudamānaṃ sa devarāṭ | evaṃ vai maruto jātāste tu devā mahaujasaḥ
ہر ایک کو سات حصّوں میں چیر کر، دیوراج اندَر نے اُن کے روتے ہوئے بھی ایسا کیا۔ یوں ہی مرُت پیدا ہوئے—وہ عظیم قوّت والے دیوتا۔

‘Devarāṭ’ means “king of the gods” and here refers to Indra.
It states that the Maruts were born when each was split into seven parts, and they are described as powerful gods.
The verse conveys a mythic transformation: even through division and suffering (crying), a new class of potent divine forces (the Maruts) emerges—suggesting that cosmic order can arise through intense, even painful, processes.
