Pūjādi-kathana — Gaṅgā Vratas, Tenfold Worship, Stotra, and Mokṣa on the Riverbank
gaṃgāvikrayāṇāddevi viṣṇorvikrayaṇaṃ bhavet | janārdane tu vikrīte vikrītaṃ bhuvanatrayam || 125 ||
Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It equates the sanctity of Gaṅgā with the presence of Viṣṇu, warning that treating a sacred tirtha as a commodity is a grave dharmic offense that symbolically commodifies the Divine and the cosmic order.
Bhakti here is expressed as tirtha-bhāva—seeing Gaṅgā as inseparable from Janārdana—so reverence, service, and humility toward sacred places become direct devotion to Viṣṇu.
It primarily reinforces dharma and ritual ethics (ācāra) rather than a specific Vedāṅga: sacred resources used in rites (tirtha-jala) are not to be commercialized, aligning practice with purity of intention in yajña, dāna, and snāna.
