Type: kshetra
Listener: (contextual) audience
Scene: Brahmā, four-faced and seated on a lotus, instructs Yājñavalkya to establish the liṅga of Śiva the trident-bearer; artisans and ritual vessels appear in the background, foreshadowing consecration.
When inner purity is obstructed, devotion expressed through consecrating a Śiva-liṅga becomes a powerful dharmic remedy.
The instruction is situated within a kṣetra-māhātmya narrative; the particular kṣetra’s name and greatness are detailed in the surrounding verses.
Liṅga-sthāpanā—establishing (consecrating) the liṅga of Śiva as a means toward purification.
