อัษฏมีในปักษ์มืดแห่งเดือนศราวณะ, วันเพ็ญเดือนอาษาฒะ, และวันเพ็ญอันเป็นมงคลในเดือนการ์ติก—รวมทั้งวันเพ็ญเดือนผาลคุณด้วย—ล้วนได้รับการสรรเสริญสำหรับการบำเพ็ญพิธีแด่ปิตฤ
