ब्राह्मणा ऊचुः पूर्वापरविरोधे नवाक्यमेतन्महामते । कथमस्ति कथं नास्ति तस्मात्त्वं वक्तुमर्हसि । विस्मयोऽयं महाञ्जातः सर्वेषां च द्विजन्मनाम्

brāhmaṇā ūcuḥ pūrvāparavirodhe navākyametanmahāmate | kathamasti kathaṃ nāsti tasmāttvaṃ vaktumarhasi | vismayo'yaṃ mahāñjātaḥ sarveṣāṃ ca dvijanmanām

เหล่าพราหมณ์กล่าวว่า “โอ้ท่านผู้มีปัญญายิ่ง ถ้อยคำนี้แปลกใหม่และดูขัดกับคำก่อนและคำหลัง จะว่า ‘มี’ ก็อย่างไร จะว่า ‘ไม่มี’ ก็อย่างไร ฉะนั้นโปรดอธิบายเถิด ความพิศวงใหญ่ได้เกิดแก่เหล่าทวิชาทั้งปวง”
