aṣṭāviṃśatibhiścaiva sahasraistu tathā paraiḥ | ādyaṃ kṛtayugaṃ caiva tadbha viṣyati saddvijāḥ

ด้วยจำนวนยี่สิบแปดพัน (ปี) และยังมีส่วนเพิ่ม (ปี) อีกด้วย ยุคแรกคือ กฤตยุกะ (Kṛtayuga) จึงถูกกำหนดไว้ดังนี้ โอ้ทวิชผู้ประเสริฐ
