स्कंद उवाच । इल्वलारे कथामेकां शृणुष्वावहितो भव । वरणायास्तटे रम्ये यद्वृत्त पूर्वमुत्तमम्

สกันทะตรัสว่า: โอ้ อิลวลาระ จงฟังเรื่องราวหนึ่งเถิด—จงตั้งใจให้มั่น ณ ฝั่งอันรื่นรมย์แห่งวรณา ในกาลก่อนมีเหตุการณ์อันประเสริฐเกิดขึ้น; จงฟังเถิด
