upavāsaparo bhūtvā niyatendriyamānasaḥ | tatra snātvā vidhānena mucyate brahmahatyayā
Śrī Mārkaṇḍeya (continued)
Tirtha: Eraṇḍīsaṅgama
Type: sangam
Scene: A disciplined pilgrim at the sangama: fasting, controlled posture, performing ācamana and then bathing at the confluence; a small fire/diya and offering plate on the bank; the mood is austere and purifying.
Purification is linked to disciplined conduct—fasting and self-restraint—combined with proper ritual bathing at a tīrtha.
Eraṇḍīsaṅgama, where prescribed bathing is said to remove even brahmahatyā.
Upavāsa (fasting), indriya-nigraha (restraint), and vidhivat snāna (bathing according to rule).
