युधिष्ठिर उवाच । शुभाशुभं न बन्धूनां जायते केन हेतुना । एकः प्रसूयते जन्तुरेक एव प्रलीयते

ยุธิษฐิระกล่าวว่า: ด้วยเหตุใดบุญและบาปของคนหนึ่งจึงไม่ตกแก่ญาติทั้งหลาย? สัตว์โลกเกิดมาเพียงลำพัง และย่อมดับไปเพียงลำพังแท้จริง
