Suta Goswami (narrating the Vāyavīyasaṃhitā discourse to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Significance: Teaches ‘sāṅgopāṅga’ correctness—full engagement (sarvāṅga-yoga) in worship—so that intended fruits mature; frames ritual as disciplined yoga of body-speech-mind.
Role: teaching
The verse teaches that results—worldly or religious—arise from disciplined, properly executed action, not from careless neglect; in Shaiva thought, right effort becomes a supportive means that can be offered to Shiva, while inner detachment matures through correct practice.
Linga-worship emphasizes vidhi (proper procedure) and bhāva (right intent). This verse aligns with Saguna Shiva worship by stressing complete, attentive performance—mantra, offerings, and conduct—so that the intended fruit of the rite is fulfilled.
It implies doing Shiva-pūjā and japa with full engagement and correctness—steady mantra recitation (e.g., Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), proper observances, and focused attention—rather than casual or indifferent practice.
