Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Warns that hypocrisy (vyaṅgya) and deceit (śāṭhya) obstruct ritual efficacy; pilgrimage/ritual without inner sincerity is spiritually sterile.
It teaches that karmic acts done for personal gain (kāmya karma) become fruitless when polluted by deceit, neglect, or hypocrisy; Shaiva practice demands inner sincerity, purity, and alignment with dharma to become receptive to Shiva’s grace.
Linga-worship is not validated by outer ritual alone; when performed with mockery or pretence, it lacks bhāva (true devotional intent). Saguna Shiva is approached through heartfelt reverence, not through showy or self-serving performance.
Perform Shiva-puja with śuddha-bhāva: recite the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with humility, apply Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and wear Rudraksha as reminders of inner discipline, and avoid kāmya motives and hypocrisy in vrata and worship.
