अगस्त्य उवाच । विष्णुशर्मेति विख्यातः पुराभूद्ब्राह्मणोत्तमः । वेदवेदांगतत्त्वज्ञो धर्मकर्मसमाश्रितः
agastya uvāca | viṣṇuśarmeti vikhyātaḥ purābhūdbrāhmaṇottamaḥ | vedavedāṃgatattvajño dharmakarmasamāśritaḥ
அகஸ்தியர் கூறினார்—முன்னொரு காலத்தில் ‘விஷ்ணுசர்மா’ எனப் புகழ்பெற்ற ஒரு சிறந்த பிராமணர் இருந்தார். அவர் வேதமும் வேதாங்கங்களும் கூறும் தத்துவங்களை அறிந்தவர்; தர்மகர்மங்களில் நிலைபெற்றவர்.
