The verse frames śauca (ritual purity) as a dharmic discipline: even inadvertent or anger-driven contact with impurity during eating is treated as spiritually consequential and therefore requires niṣkṛti (prescribed expiation) to restore purity and inner steadiness.
While not directly teaching bhakti, it supports devotional life by protecting the sanctity of āhāra (food) and conduct; purity of daily actions is presented as a foundation that keeps the mind fit for japa, pūjā, and remembrance of the Divine.
It reflects Kalpa/Vedāṅga practice through prāyaścitta and śauca regulations—procedural dharma governing ritual conduct, especially rules connected with eating and contact-based impurity.
