Ayodhya Return, Bridal Reception, and Bharata’s Departure
प्रार्थितस्तेन धर्मज्ञ मिधिलायामहं तथा।।1.77.19।।ऋषिमध्ये तु तस्य त्वं प्रीतिं कर्तुमिहार्हसि।
prārthitas tena dharmajña mithilāyām ahaṃ tathā || 1.77.19 ||
ṛṣimadhye tu tasya tvaṃ prītiṃ kartum ihārhasi |
«О знающий дхарму, в Митхиле, среди риши, он обратился ко мне с этой просьбой; потому тебе следует здесь порадовать его, исполнив её.»
Thereafter Rama the descendant of the Raghus, paid obeisance to Vasishta and other rishis, and looked at his father who appeared agitated said:
Satya and promise-keeping: a request made publicly among sages carries moral weight; dharma requires honouring such commitments.
Daśaratha explains that he had been asked at Mithilā (before sages) and urges Bharata to comply to please Yudhājit.
Integrity—Daśaratha treats his word and public accountability as binding.
