Kaikeyī’s Protest
क्रोधागारे निपतिता सा बभौ मलिनाम्बरा।।।।एकवेणीं दृढं बद्वा गतसत्त्वेव किन्नरी।
krodhāgāre nipatitā sā babhau malināmbarā | ekaveṇīṃ dṛḍhaṃ baddhvā gatasattveva kinnarī ||
Пав в палате гнева, в запятнанных одеждах, с волосами, туго стянутыми в одну косу, она казалась киннари, лишённой жизни.
Tightly fastening her hair into a single braid and wearing soiled clothes, she lay down in the chamber of wrath in a lifeless state like a kinnari.
Unchecked anger deforms conduct and perception; dharma values self-restraint and truthful, non-coercive communication.
Kaikeyī stages her anguish in the anger-chamber, adopting signs of distress (soiled clothes, single braid) to pressure Daśaratha.
The verse emphasizes the absence of sattva (inner steadiness), serving as a cautionary portrayal rather than an ideal.
