“Wahai orang terbuang, wahai yang berhati besar! Selamatkanlah kami dengan sedekah makanan. Kami telah kurus kering, dihimpit kelaparan, dan nyawa kami seakan berada di ambang bahaya.”
Ṛṣis (sages) (as quoted within Śiva’s narration)
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: Mahādevī (Pārvatī)
Scene: Close-up of sages with folded hands, gaunt bodies, pleading to the householder; the emotional center is their vulnerability and the moral appeal to the ‘great-minded’ one.
Anna-dāna is portrayed as immediate protection of life; compassion is dharma in action.
The episode supports the Māhātmya leading to Akṣamāleśvara/Ugraseneśvara in Prabhāsa-kṣetra.
Giving food (anna-dāna) as a saving, meritorious act.
