The Second Twelve-Month Vrata: Dvitīyā Observances and Their Fruits
Narada (narrating ritual timing; traditional dialogue context with Sanatkumara brothers)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It sanctifies a specific tithi (Āṣāḍha śukla Dvitīyā) as fit for devotional service, teaching that worship performed at the right sacred time and with proper honor (seating the deity on the ratha) becomes especially meritorious.
Bhakti here is expressed as loving, public honor to the deity—placing Rāma (Balarāma) on the chariot along with Subhadrā—showing devotion through ceremonial service (upacāra) rather than mere theory.
It applies Vedāṅga-based calendrics (Jyotiṣa/pañcāṅga practice): identifying the month (Āṣāḍha), fortnight (śukla-pakṣa), and tithi (Dvitīyā) to determine the correct ritual day.
