यस्मात्कालीत्यहं प्रोक्ता त्वया शंभोऽतिविप्लवात् । तस्माद्यास्यामि गौरीति भविष्यामि च यत्र हि
yasmātkālītyahaṃ proktā tvayā śaṃbho'tiviplavāt | tasmādyāsyāmi gaurīti bhaviṣyāmi ca yatra hi
ഹേ ശംഭോ! അത്യന്തം അനുചിതമായ വേളയിൽ നീ എന്നെ ‘കാളി’ എന്നു വിളിച്ചു; അതുകൊണ്ട് ഞാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു ‘ഗൗരി’ എന്ന നാമത്തിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധയാകും—ഞാൻ ഏതു സ്ഥലത്ത് നിലകൊള്ളുമോ, അവിടെയേ।
