पुलस्त्य उवाच । प्रदाय वै शिवस्तस्मै तां विद्यां नृपसत्तम । अब्रवीच्च पुनः शुक्रं वरमन्यं वृणीष्व मे
pulastya uvāca | pradāya vai śivastasmai tāṃ vidyāṃ nṛpasattama | abravīcca punaḥ śukraṃ varamanyaṃ vṛṇīṣva me
പുലസ്ത്യൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ നൃപശ്രേഷ്ഠാ! അവനു ആ വിദ്യ ദാനം ചെയ്ത ശേഷം ശിവൻ വീണ്ടും ശുക്രനോടു—‘എന്നിൽ നിന്നു മറ്റൊരു വരവും തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുക’ എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
