Sukta 19
येन मृतं स्नपयन्ति श्मश्रूणि येनोन्दते । तं वै ब्रह्मज्य ते देवा अपां भागमधारयन्
yéna mṛtáṃ snapáyanti śmaśrū́ṇi yénóndate | táṃ vái brahmajyé te devā́ apā́ṃ bhā́gam adhārayann ||
That wherewith they wash the dead, wherewith they moisten the beard—him, verily, as Brahman-slayer, the Gods have held back from the Waters’ portion.
ഏതുകൊണ്ടാണ് അവർ മരിച്ചവനെ കുളിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്, ഏതുകൊണ്ടാണ് താടി നനയ്ക്കുന്നത്—അവനെ ദേവന്മാർ ‘ബ്രഹ്മഹത്യകൻ’ എന്നു നിശ്ചയിച്ച് ജലങ്ങളുടെ (അപാം) ഭാഗത്തിൽ നിന്ന് തടഞ്ഞുവെച്ചു.
