Suta (narrator) introducing Vasu’s discourse (Ganga Mahatmya section)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It marks the formal beginning of the Gaṅgā Māhātmya: the text frames Gaṅgā as pāpa-nāśinī (sin-destroying) and authorizes the teaching through Vasu, a recognized Purāṇa-knower.
Bhakti here is implied through śravaṇa (hearing) and kīrtana (narration) of a sacred glory: listening to and recounting Gaṅgā’s māhātmya becomes a devotional act that purifies the heart and supports dharmic living.
No specific Vedāṅga technique is taught in this line; it functions as an anuvāda-style narrative cue establishing pramāṇa (authority) for an upcoming tīrtha-māhātmya and its associated ritual benefits.
