It is a tirtha-smaraṇa (remembrance/invocation of sacred rivers) used to sacralize ordinary water, treating it as equivalent to pilgrimage-waters for purification and auspicious rites.
By reverently invoking the divine rivers, the practitioner performs ritual acts with śraddhā (faith), turning simple daily purification into a devotional offering aligned with Purāṇic dharma.
It reflects kalpa-prayoga (ritual application): a concise mantra employed in ācamana/snānāṅga water-consecration, showing how sacred speech is used to effect ritual purity (śauca).
