The (solemn) vow for observance of religious rites being thus interrupted, I left that country as an exerted and discouraged man.
Rajadharma includes honoring a sage’s righteous request and supporting the protection of sacred rites, even when it requires personal sacrifice.
Viśvāmitra formally asks Daśaratha to send his eldest son Rāma with him for safeguarding the sacrifice.
Rāma’s dependable valor (satya-parākrama) is emphasized, and Daśaratha’s virtue of duty-bound generosity is implicitly invoked.
