प्रवृत्तिः सर्वशास्त्राणां पुराणादभवत्ततः । कालेनाग्रहणं दृष्ट्वा पुराणस्य महामतिः ॥ २३ ॥

Transliteration

pravṛttiḥ sarvaśāstrāṇāṃ purāṇādabhavattataḥ | kālenāgrahaṇaṃ dṛṣṭvā purāṇasya mahāmatiḥ || 23 ||

Translation

プラーナから、あらゆるシャーストラの展開と流布が生じた。やがて大いなる賢者は、時の経過とともにプラーナが正しく受け取られ、保持されなくなったのを見て、それを護持し弘めるための方策を講じた。
