Varāha (default, within Varāha–Pṛthivī dialogue framework)
It exemplifies Purāṇic cartographic imagination: landscapes are classified by measurable extents (yojana), vegetation cover, water bodies, and adjacent forests—useful for studying how early Sanskrit literature encoded environmental and regional knowledge.
The verse names Kapiñjala–Nāga (mountain pair) and Puṣkara–Mahāmegha (regional markers). Puṣkara is often associated in scholarship with the Pushkar area in Rajasthan, though the identification here remains tentative because the text presents a mytho-geographical system rather than a single modern map-coordinate.
No explicit moral injunction is stated; the philosophical emphasis is descriptive—cataloguing landforms, vegetation, and waters—supporting a broader Purāṇic worldview where careful attention to terrain and resources frames cultural memory and environmental awareness.
