tava putro mahātmā vai śrīmān nāma śriyo nidhiḥ || pūrṇaṁ varṣasahasraṁ tu tapaḥ kṛtvā suduṣcaram
Nārada (implied by continuation; consolatory narration)
It reflects a Purāṇic narrative convention where ascetic achievement (tapas) is used to frame a person’s moral-spiritual stature and to contextualize later teachings on death, grief, and ritual conduct.
No specific place-name appears in this verse; it functions as biographical characterization rather than sacred geography.
The verse foregrounds disciplined effort (tapas) as a marker of virtue, preparing the listener for a consolatory or instructive conclusion about the outcome of such a life.
