Hospitality at Gauramukha’s Hermitage and the Power of the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel
सुशीलः सुखदः शम्भुः सुदान्तः सोम एव च । एते पञ्चदश प्रोक्ता नायका मणितोत्थिताः ॥ ११.८० ॥
suśīlaḥ sukhadaḥ śambhuḥ sudāntaḥ soma eva ca | ete pañcadaśa proktā nāyakā maṇitotthitāḥ || 11.80 ||
और सुशील, सुखदा, शंभु, सुदांत और सोम भी थे। ये पंद्रह लोग मणि से निकले थे और सबके सरदार थे।
Varāha (default speaker per dialogue framework; not explicit in fragment)
It preserves a Purāṇic catalog-style passage (nāmāvalī) that documents idealized names/qualities and a mythic origin claim, useful for textual comparison across Purāṇas and for studying how virtues are encoded as proper names.
No geographic location is named in this verse fragment; it functions as a list of named figures and their stated origin.
The verse foregrounds virtues associated with exemplary figures—good conduct (suśīla) and self-restraint (sudānta)—presented as culturally valued traits in leadership/ideal personhood rather than as prescriptive command.
