Sukta 8.98
त्वमिन्द्राभिभूरसि त्वं सूर्यमरोचयः । विश्वकर्मा विश्वदेवो महाँ असि ॥
tvám indrābhí-bhūr asi tváṃ sū́ryam arocayaḥ | viśvá-karmā viśvá-devo mahā́ṃ asi ||
इंद्र, तुम सबसे ऊपर हो। तुमने सूरज को चमकाया। तुम सारी दुनिया का काम करते हो, तुम सबसे बड़े भगवान हो, तुम हमारे अंदर बड़े हो।
You, Indra, are the overcomer; you made the Sun shine forth. You are the universal maker of works, the all-divine, the Great.
Indra is the conquering power (abhibhū) that overcomes inner darkness and inertia. He makes the Sun shine (sūryam arocayaḥ): he brings out the inner solar consciousness—illumination, truth-vision—previously veiled by obstruction. Calling him Viśvakarman and Viśvadeva signals that the illumined Mind is not a narrow faculty but a universal organizer of works in the being; it coordinates all god-powers (devāḥ as faculties) into a single effective harmony, establishing a greatness (mahān) that surpasses the ego-personality.
True mastery is the emergence of inner light; when illumination leads, all capacities become coordinated and works are shaped by a higher intelligence.
Cosmic illumination, Indra as universal power, Overcoming
The seer compresses a whole yogic doctrine into a few epithets: conquest, revelation of the Sun, and universal organization of works—classic Vedic inner ascent imagery.
Brings forth the solar light and coordinates divine functions in the cosmos; victorious leader of the gods.
Revealing intelligence that conquers obstruction and organizes life-works according to truth.
Praise-verse usable in Indra stotras; emphasizes illumination (sun-making) and universal workmanship

32
4 pādas of ~8 syllables; aphoristic cadence
Compact, declarative, mantra-like—suited to affirmation.
Builds confidence and clarity; feels like a seal (mudrā) of victory and illumination.
Praise-verse usable in Indra stotras; emphasizes illumination (sun-making) and universal workmanship
Indra praise in Soma-related recitations; also apt as a daily affirmation of illumination before study/meditation
Stuti emphasizing Indra’s solar revelation and universal workmanship
Use when beginning creative work or problem-solving: invoke the ‘universal shaper’ to align actions with higher clarity.
abhi-bhū from √bhū ‘be/become’ with abhí ‘over’; sūrya from √svar/√sur? (traditional derivations vary; associated with shining); arocayaḥ causative of √ruc ‘shine’ (PIE *leuk- ‘light’ is different, but ruc is Indo-Iranian light root); viśva-karman ‘all-doer/maker’ (karman from √kṛ ‘do’); mahān from √mah ‘be great’ (PIE *megʰ- ‘great’).
Illumination as unveiling (rocana), Universal workmanship (viśvakarman) as ordering intelligence, Greatness (mahān) as expansion of consciousness
Indra’s revelation of Sūrya supports ṛta by making truth visible and actionable.
Light as satya: what is made to shine becomes the basis of right action.
Formation/organization (karman) as a divine act guided by illumination.
Integral Vedic psychology: illumination + effective works as one movement.
dawn-to-sunrise (implied by ‘made the Sun shine forth’)
Sun = awakened truth-consciousness; shining forth = revelation in meditation; overcomer = mastery over inertia and obscurity.
Affirm Indra as the power that conquers and reveals the inner Sun; offer your works to that intelligence.
maṇipūra (victory/force) and ājñā (illumination)
Brisk 3-part breath awareness (lower ribs–chest–head space) while chanting; pause after ‘sūryam arocayaḥ’ to feel inner light.
Confident clarity; luminous execution.
Chant, then visualize a sun rising behind the forehead; let one action for the day be shaped from that light (viśvakarmā) rather than from impulse.
Not fully determinable without svara marks; keep a steady Anuṣṭubh beat and crisp consonants.
Punch ‘abhibhūḥ’ clearly; brighten tone on ‘sūryam arocayaḥ’; broaden on ‘mahān asi’.
abhibhūḥ (long ū; final ḥ audible), sūryam (long ū), arocayaḥ (final ḥ), viśvakarmā (śv cluster; long ā), viśvadevaḥ (final ḥ), mahān (long ā)
Clear, affirmative, slightly ascending on the ‘Sun’ phrase.
