Mantra 2

Mantra 3

Mantra 4

Mantra 5

Mantra 6

Mantra 7

Mantra 8

Mantra 9

Mantra 10

Mantra 11

Mantra 12

Mantra 13

Mantra 14

Mantra 15

Inside Sukta 70

How it unfolds

  1. Where it opens

Indra is proclaimed as king of peoples and the eldest in power, arriving with steadfast chariots and destined to conquer battles (8.70.1).

  2. Development

  3. Climax

Indra’s identity as universal battle-overcomer and Vṛtra-slayer becomes the decisive assurance: obstruction will be broken and victory secured when he is praised and invoked.

  4. Where it settles

A concrete, patron-like remembrance (Karṇagṛhyā) closes the hymn by anchoring Indra’s bounty in tangible gains (calf/goat), sealing the prayer with prosperity and establishment (8.70.15).
