The Descent of the Gaṅgā and Bhagiratha’s Fulfilment
तस्यावलेपनं ज्ञात्वा क्रुद्धस्तु भगवान् हरः ॥६॥
तिरोभावयितुं बुद्धिं चक्रे त्रिनयनस्तदा ।
tasyāvalepanaṃ jñātvā kruddhas tu bhagavān haraḥ ||6||
tirobhāvayituṃ buddhiṃ cakre trinayanas tadā |
भगवान शंकर को पता चला कि गंगा अकड़ रही है। वो गुस्से में आ गए। उन्होंने सोचा कि इसको ठीक करना पड़ेगा। उन्होंने उसे छुपा दिया और रोक दिया।
Then the three-eyed Lord Siva, aware of her proud intentions applied his intelligence to conceal her.
Power must be governed by dharma. Śiva’s intervention represents moral-cosmic regulation: arrogance is corrected, and destructive force is contained.
Śiva perceives Gaṅgā’s proud intent and decides to stop her by concealing/holding her back.
Protective restraint and discernment—Śiva uses controlled power, not impulsive destruction, to restore balance.
