Mantra 1
हृद्रोग-कामिला-नाशनम्। अनु॒ सूर्य॒मुद॑यतां हृद्दयो॒तो ह॑रि॒मा च॑ ते । गो रोहि॑तस्य॒ वर्णे॑न॒ तेन॑ त्वा॒ परि॑ दध्मसि
यह मंत्र दिल की बिमारी और अंदर की घबराहट दूर करने के लिए है। सूरज के साथ साथ तुम्हारा दिल भी चमक उठना चाहिए। दिल का अंदर जो पीला पड़ गया है, वो साफ हो जाए। लाल गाय के रंग की तरह तुम्हारा रंग भी लाल और चमकदार हो जाए। हम तुम्हे ऐसा रंग दे रहे हैं जो तुम्हे नया बना दे।

परि॑ त्वा॒ रोहि॑तै॒र्वर्णै॑र्दीर्घायु॒त्वाय॑ दध्मसि । यथा॒यम॑र॒पा अस॒दथो॒ अह॑रितो॒ भुव॑त्
हम तुम्हारे आस पास लाल रंग की चीज़ें रख रहे हैं ताकि तुम लंबी उम्र तक जियो। यह दुआ है कि तुम किसी तरह से ना तकलीफ हो। तुम्हारा रंग ना पीला हो, तुम हमेशा स्वस्थ रहो।

या रोहि॑णीर्देव॒त्या॒३ गावो॒ या उ॒त रोहि॑णीः । रू॒पंरू॑पं वयो॑वय॒स्ताभि॑ष्ट्वा॒ परि॑ दध्मसि
जो लाल गायें भगवान की हैं, और जो भी लाल गायें हैं, उन सब से हम तुम्हारे आस पास रखते हैं। एक के बाद एक चीज़, एक उम्र से दूसरी उम्र, सब से तुम्हे बचाया जाता है।

शुके॑षु ते हरि॒माणं॑ रोप॒णाका॑सु दध्मसि । अथो॒ हारि॑द्रवेषु ते हरि॒माणं॒ नि द॑ध्मसि
हल्दी जैसी पीली चीज़ों में से हम तुम्हारे लिए यह पीलापन निकाल रहे हैं। जो पौधे हैं उनमें यह डाल रहे हैं। फिर हल्दी के रंग के कपड़ों में भी यह पीलापन बंद कर रहे हैं ताकि तुम्हारा रंग ठीक रहे।
It targets harimā́—‘yellowness’ associated with jaundice/weakness and inauspicious pallor—and seeks to restore a stable, healthy complexion and long life.
Yellow is treated as the disease-sign to be transferred out, while red (rohitá) is installed as the counter-sign of health and vitality, ritually ‘encircling’ the patient as protection.
The hymn uses transference: the practitioner symbolically deposits the patient’s harimā́ into plant receptacles and turmeric-yellow media, so the affliction leaves the body and is ‘laid down and away’ elsewhere.
