शत्रुनिवारणम्। स्वस्ति॒दा वि॒शां पति॑र्वृत्र॒हा वि॑मृ॒धो॑ व॒शी। वृषेन्द्रः॑ पु॒र ए॑तु नः सोम॒पा अ॑भयंक॒रः
यह मंत्र इंद्र की दुआ है। वो सबकी भलाई करता है, सब लोगों का मालिक है। इंद्र ने दुश्मनों को हराया है, बुरा लोगों को कंट्रोल में रखता है। वो टांगे जैसा बलवान है। हम मांगते हैं कि वो हमारे आगे चलता रहे। वो सोम रस पीता है और हमसे डर भगाता है।

वि न॑ इन्द्र॒ मृधो॑ जहि नीचा॒ य॑च्छ पृतन्य॒तः । अ॒ध॒मं ग॑मया॒ तमो॒ यो अ॒स्माँ अ॑भि॒दास॑ति
इंद्र, हमारे दुश्मनों को भगा दे और उन्हें मार के नीचे गिरा दे। जो लोग हमसे लड़ते हैं, उन्हें ज़मीन में दबा दे। जो हमारे खिलाफ बुरा सोचता है, उस्से अंधेरे में फेंक दे।

वि रक्षो॒ वि मृधो॑ जहि वि वृ॒त्रस्य॒ हनू॑ रुज । वि म॒न्युमि॑न्द्र वृत्रहन्न॒मित्र॑स्याभि॒दास॑तः
इंद्र को पुकारा जा रहा है। वो दुश्मन को भगा दे, जो भी तुम पे अटैक कर रहा है उसको तोड़ दे। वृत्र नाम का एक बड़ा राक्षस है, उसकी हड्डियाँ तोड़ दे। जो तुम्हारे पे वॉर कर रहा है, उसका गुस्सा मिटा दे। इंद्र ऐसे दुश्मन को खत्म करने वाला है जो दूसरों पे ज़ुल्म करता है।

अपे॑न्द्र द्विष॒तो मनोऽप॒ जिज्या॑सतो व॒धम्। वि महच्छर्म॑ यच्छ॒ वरी॑यो यावया व॒धम्
इंद्र, जो लोग तुमसे नफरत करते हैं, उनका दिमाग ठीक कर दे। जो तुम्हे मारने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं, उनका अटैक वापस कर दे। हमें इतना बड़ा प्रोटेक्शन दे कि कोई हमे कुछ ना कर सके। और जो भी हम पे अटैक आए, उसको वापस भगा दे। तू हमारे लिए सबसे बड़ी सुरक्षा है।
