Sukta 8.6
इमां म इन्द्र सुष्टुतिं जुषस्व प्र सु मामव । उत प्र वर्धया मतिम् ॥
imā́ṃ ma indra suṣṭutíṃ juṣásva prá sú mā́m ava | utá prá vardhayā matím ||
Indra, meri yeh ardas sun le. Mujhe aage badha. Meri soch ko aur tez kar de taaki main sahi baat samajh sakun.
Soma offering context; invitation to Indra to accept praise and strengthen the sacrificer’s inspired thought (common in Indra-Soma sequences, e.g., Agniṣṭoma/Ukthya day-stotras).
growth of mati (inspired cognition), progressive manifestation (pra as forward movement of consciousness)
Protection (ava) is the maintenance of Ṛta in the individual—keeping the being aligned to right movement.
Increase of mati is increase of Satya in mind: capacity to perceive and formulate truth.
Speech-offering as creative act: mantra shapes consciousness and invites divine response.
Mantra-yoga within Vedic framework: speech as śakti; mind expanded by higher power.
Acceptance = higher power taking up the offering; protection = warding off inner ‘coverers’; increase = widening of consciousness.
Offer refined speech/attention; ask for inner protection and expansion of discernment; rest in receptive silence after chanting.
Ājñā (mati) with protective stability in Mūlādhāra (grounding) and openness in Anāhata (devotional offering).
Before chant: 3 slow breaths; during chant: natural breath; after chant: 1–2 minutes of quiet kumbhaka-like stillness (no strain) to feel ‘acceptance’.
Devotional receptivity leading to clearer directive intelligence.
Chant once slowly for meaning, then 3–9 times for force; end by writing or holding one clear ‘mati’ (intention) you want Indra to enlarge.
Vedic accents per Śākala; exact svara requires accent-marked source.
Imperatives ‘juṣasva’, ‘ava’, ‘vardhaya’ should be articulated clearly; keep pāda breaks steady for Triṣṭubh punch.
imām: long ā, me: long e, suṣṭutim: retroflex ṣṭ conjunct; keep ‘su-ṣṭu-tim’ clear, juṣasva: retroflex ṣ; ‘sv’ cluster, pra su: separate lightly (pra | su), vardhaya: aspirate ‘dh’, matim: light final nasalization if in saṃhitā context
Warm, devotional, steady; slightly more ‘commanding’ on the requests without harshness.
